Current law, from the official sources
The United States Code and the Federal Rules at the Office of the Law Revision Counsel's current release point; the C.F.R., the Federal Register, public laws and bills from GovInfo; and the official California and New York codes. Other states' codes, rules and regulations are 2011–2012 archive text, and each such page says so.
Is it still good law?
Every opinion carries its treatment history — overruled, distinguished, followed — built from the citing opinions themselves, with the sentence that says so. Check one citation, or an entire brief.
