Section 1241, act Sept. 3, 1954, ch. 1257, title III, §316, 68 Stat. 1159, provided for promotion to first lieutenant. See section 14301 et seq. of Title 10, Armed Forces. Section 1242, act Sept. 3, 1954, ch. 1257, title III, §317, 68 Stat. 1159, provided for promotion to captain, major, lieutenant colonel, and colonel to fill unit vacancies.
