Participation in the program shall be completed and the participant shall be entitled to benefits under the program upon the first occurrence of either of the following during the program period:

Cal. Gov't Code § 31776 — Deferred Retirement Option Program is in force in the current edition of the Code, and nothing recorded condemns it.
Participation in the program shall be completed and the participant shall be entitled to benefits under the program upon the first occurrence of either of the following during the program period:
(a) Retirement of the participant for service.
(b) Death of the participant.
