A procedural device that lets a court decide a case, or part of one, without a trial when the key facts are not genuinely in dispute. The moving party must show that no reasonable jury could find for the other side on the evidence in the record, entitling the movant to judgment as a matter of law. Courts view the evidence in the light most favorable to the non-moving party.
